From our past articles, you probably already know about such a utility as Diskpart. This is one of the most powerful programs for working with hard drive partitions, the functionality of which includes as many as 38 different commands.

Along with the functionality of this utility, it is not always possible to avoid some negative consequences, such as accidental deletion of personal data. Let's give a simple example:

SSD drive recovery is a hot topic. There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding SSD drives in general. Users become confused, not knowing whether they’ll be able to recover files from an SSD drive. We’ll try to address these concerns and clear the confusion. But first let’s look at how different SSD drives are compared to traditional mechanical storage devices.

Recovering files and folders can be more or less difficult when dealing with healthy or even corrupted partitions. In general, such partitions are still accessible via the OS, or at least they appear as drive letters in the file manager and in data recovery tools. However, there is a special case where one may not be able to see the drive letter at all. If this happens to a partition, then most probably it’s either corrupted beyond repair, features no file system at all (e.g. after repartitioning the disk) or is formatted with a foreign file system (e.g. you attempt to access an ext3 volume in Windows).

Such partitions generally appear as “raw”, or simply appear as unallocated disk space in the Windows Disk Management console.
